The Fitzhugh cemetery caretaker stated that the cemetery association is applying for a Historical Marker and recognition that Fitzhugh Cemetery is a historical cemetery. There are guidelines for maintaining a historical cemetery. One being that NO TALCUM OR SIDEWALK CHALK be used on any headstone or marker. Attempts to obtain correct information will be done using the method of “foiling”. The transcription of this cemetery will be as accurate as possible although some information may not be recorded due to the inability to read the engraved information.
