Davie, Inez Corley

Inez Corley Davie went home to be with the Lord on May 11, 2008. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Inez was born on Aug. 18, 1922, in Garland, Texas, the only child of Jess D. Corley and Nannie Harvey Corley.
The Corleys and Harveys were early settlers in Dallas and Collin Counties. After the birth of her granddaughter, Inez became known as "Honey" to family and friends.
Inez has been a member of the First Baptist Church in Garland for over 60 years.
After graduation from Garland High School, Inez attended Draughon’s Business College in Dallas. During the war, she was employed in security for Lockheed.
Later, she participated in the Garland JC-ettes. She was employed by Motors Insurance Corporation, the insurance division of GM, in various positions and retired as the Dallas Regional Secretary.
Inez rarely met a stranger. She was full of spunk and a lover of good times. Her most treasured companions were her cats, especially J.R., Sue Ellen and most recently, Regis.
Inez is survived by her daughter, and son-in-law, Diane Davie Shire and Stuart Shire of Plano; and her granddaughter, Suzy Shire of Dallas. She is also survived by several Corley and Harvey cousins and dear friends.
Funeral Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday May 14, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Garland in the Cockrell Chapel. Interment will follow in Big Springs Cemetery. Please make contributions to the charity of your choice in Inez’s memory. ~ ~ ~ The Garland News, Tuesday, May 20, 2008
