C.J. Whatley

ODESSA — C.J. Whatley, 70, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at his residence.
He was born May 1, 1933, in Nida, Okla. He married Merline Lewis on Sept. 17, 1951, in Carlsbad, N.M. He was a retired insurance salesman for Western Southern Life Insurance Co.
C.J. was a very loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Merline of Odessa; daughters, Gayla Threatt and husband Charles of Odessa, and Glenna Jones and husband Ricky of Odessa; mother, Lois Jones of Albuquerque, N.M.; half brother, Billy Whatley of Oklahoma; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
There will be visitation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Kyle Rodgers officiating.
