ODESSA — Billy John “BJ” Sims, loving husband, father and PaPa, passed away Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at Hospice House in Odessa at the age of 81.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He was born Jan. 21, 1923, in Brownfield, Texas, to Lewis and Ruby Dobson Sims.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was a dedicated lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, serving as grand worthy president, state aerie president, and local aerie president. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Sims of Odessa; children, Mary Pat Sims of Baton Rouge, La., Larry L. Price Sr. and wife Judy, John L. Price and wife JoAnn and Janice A. Price and husband Neal; daughter-in-law, Shirley Price; sister, Ruth Cook of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers; seven sisters; one daughter, Marsha Lynn Sims; one son, Joe G. Price; and one great-granddaughter, Casey Price.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Home Hospice of Odessa.
