ODESSA — Paul Benjamin Scholl, 74, devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, left this world to be with our Lord Jesus Christ Sunday morning, Jan. 11, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mr. Scholl was the youngest son of Phillip Henry Scholl and Anna Meinzer Scholl of Falls City, Neb. He was born Oct. 14, 1929, in Richardson County, Neb., and grew up in Rulo, Neb., and eventually started his own family in Odessa after meeting the love of his life, wife, Edna Carrie Wells, of Wade, Okla. Mr. Scholl was a loving family man who loved his family, his God and his Dallas Cowboys. His spare time was always spent at home with his family, who will miss him so dearly. He was retired from BTA Oil Producers after many years of service, and continued to consult for them until May 1998. He also served in the U.S. Army. Many that know him will tell you he was a hard worker, honest and compassionate.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elmer Henry Scholl; sisters, Dorothy Scholl Roberson of Anchorage, Alaska; Ester Scholl MacCandless of Oceanside, Calif.; Marie Scholl Varnado, of Rome, N.Y.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carrie; daughter, Kandy Scholl Fields; two grandchildren, John Paul Martin and his wife Amanda Stice Martin, and Jessica Fields of Odessa; two great-grandchildren, Lauren Martin and Austin Martin of Odessa; sisters, Lucille Scholl Thompson and Arlene Scholl Miller of Rulo; and many nieces and nephews. All of us will miss our angel. He showed us so much.
There will be a visitation for family and friends 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Clyde Chapman officiating. Grave-side services will follow shortly after at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
There will always be a void in our lives for the man we loved so much, but we have comfort in knowing we will see him again; he will be with us in our hearts and prayers.
Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
