Jerry Dee Gleaton

ODESSA — Jerry Dee Gleaton was born on September 22, 1924, in May, Texas, to Leon F and Ann Gleaton. Jerry passed away on January 24, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital. He was 79.
Jerry married Margaret Moran on August 29, 1946. Jerry came to Odessa in 1946. Jerry worked 17 years for Gulf Oil. He also worked for Oasis Oil Co. and spent 17 years overseas in Libya. Jerry retired from GQ Salmon and Son where he worked as a roustabout, pumper and foreman.
Jerry was a veteran of World War II. He served his country proudly in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign as a member of the US Army.
He was a loving father and husband who cared for his family, so much in fact, that he traveled halfway around the world twice to take a job to be able to better provide for them.
Jerry is preceded in death by his wife Margaret, parents, sister and two brothers.
He is survived by his son, David Gleaton and wife, Christie, of Odessa; daughter, Dee Hamilton and husband, John, of Odessa; brother, S.H. “Dick” Gleaton of Monticello, Minn.; nephews, Joe Irby Gibson and Brian Gleaton; nieces, Linda Myers and Jeri Alice Gleaton.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
