Willie Laurie Bigelow

ODESSA — Willie Laurie Bigelow, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on Jan. 17, 2004, in Medical Center Hospital at the age of 87.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, in Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Willie was born on Aug. 30, 1916, in Utopia, Texas, to Lillie and James Gotcher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Paul Bigelow, whom she married on Nov. 9, 1933, in San Angelo, Texas. Willie, an avid bridge player, spent the last 50 years as a resident of Odessa, where she was active in various service organizations and the First Christian Church.
She is survived by her sister, Jimmie Lee Beard of Fort Stockton; two sons, Robert Paul Bigelow Jr. of Jasper and Oren Glen Bigelow of Sacramento, Calif.; four grandchildren, Owen Craig Bigelow and his wife, Terri, who lived with, loved and cared for her during the last several years; Julie Diane Bookout of Wiergate, Texas; Sara Beth Molina and Brenda Janiece Hewitt, both of Sacramento, Calif.; and six great-grandchildren, Jimsey, Robert, Chelsea, Michelle, Michael and Bennett.
The family will receive visitors at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Christian Church of Odessa.
