ODESSA — Christine Beasley Cook, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village.
Christine was born in Laneville, Texas. She graduated from North Texas University in Denton. She was a schoolteacher, teaching for 50 years and retired from Gonzales Elementary School August 31, 1978. She was a charter member of the Odessa Retired Teachers Assoc., a member of the Texas State Teachers Assoc., the Pioneer Study Club and the Zeta Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority. She also was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was Secretary-Treasurer of the Couples Class for several years. She was a member of the Odessa Branch of the American Assoc. of University Women. She loved reading and playing bridge.
She married Glen Cook on June 3, 1950. He preceded her in death February 10, 1990. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her sister, Lucile Bellican of Odessa; niece, Virginia Sills, and nephews, Ross Beasley and Charles Beasley.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2004, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Terry Tamplin officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorials maybe made to the First United Methodist Church, Parks Methodist Retirement Village or the Church of your choice.
