This information came from the "Cook County Cemeteries Epitaphs and Dates" book, was compiled and printed in 1990 by Bonita Copeland and Wanda Smith and used with permission
This cemetery is located on land acquired by the county from W. M. Simpson and wife Bertha A., in April of 1939. The first person buried here was Juan Lara, father of Alvin Lara of Robert Lee, Texas.
There are two earlier death dates found here, 1925 and 1927. These coffins were moved to this location in the 1960’s. Previous burial had been at a site on Yellow Wolf Creek on the John Sauls Ranch. Progression had begun for the building of Lake Spence. The original burial site would be in the projected lake area, implementing the need for removal. The late Sam Williams (local Funeral Director at that time) and his two sons, Gary and Sherman Williams, moved them to this cemetery.
This cemetery is located east of Robert Lee, off Highway 158. The road moves to the right at the stop sign just east of the Robert Lee Hayrick Lodge Cemetery, proceeding about a quarter of a mile.
