More Details About The Sauer Cemetery

(Located about 150 yards from the road leading to the Moore Ranchhouse on the South side of the Blanco River, about 3 miles from the town square on Hwy 1623/165/4^th Street. Ranch gate on right after crossing the River is usually locked. The cemetery is surrounded by a 4 foot chain link fence with unlocked gate and has two large Ashe junipers and a small Laurel tree inside the fence. According to Bryan Moore, the children were killed in an Indian raid)

Legend of Gravesites:

1. Native rock head and footstones –probably the grave of Woodson Blassingame
2. Native rock head and footstones, stones being about 1- 1 ½ feet less distance between than on grave #1. Possibly grave  of Woodson’s son Calvin Blassingame.
3. Charlie Sauer: Dec 6, 1895 – Feb 27, 1960
4. Father: Otto E. (Sauer) 1845-1919
5. Mother: Louisa (Sauer) 1850-1934
6. Henry Sauer: Texas Pvt, 28 Co 165 Dep Brig, World War I, June 6, 1891-July 11, 1954
7. Unmarked grave, child sized, bordered by red granite

Graves of the two Blassingames killed in the mob action following the deaths of James Callahan and William Maulheel Johnson.  It is not known which is the grave of the father, Woodson Blassingame and which is that of his son Calvin.
