The Shreveport Times Thursday, January 05, 2006 Joseph C. Williams, Sr. Saint Ann’s Catholic Cemetery, Stonewall, LA SHREVEPORT, LA - A funeral Mass celebrating the life of Joseph C. Williams, Sr., 82, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 4736 Lyba Street. Father Charles Glorioso will preside. Interment will follow in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Stonewall, LA with Military Honors by the 12th District Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Rose-Neath's Southside Funeral Home. A prayer vigil will be held beginning at 7:00 p.m. Joe proudly served his country during World War II as a Navy Sea Bee and was involved in the American Legion Post #14, 40&8, and Knights of Columbus. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America Troop 20 and served as Scout Master for many years. He was an Eagle Scout, vigil member of the Order of the Arrow and a recipient of both the Silver Beaver and the St. George Awards. He was a dedicated scout leader and a positive influence on many young men. He retired from South Central Bell as a Communications Consultant after 30 years of service. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Lacobee Williams and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Williams. He is survived by his sons, Ralph Williams, Sr., Joe "Joey" Williams, Jr. and wife, Stacy, Jerry Williams and wife, Karen, and Philip Williams and wife, Martha; daughter, Laetitia "Sissy" Berry and husband, Steve; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers will be James Frost, Ted Beavers, and grandsons: Matt Berry, Ryan Berry, Ralph Williams, Jr., and Jeremy Gunnels. Memorials may be made to Norwela Council, Boy Scouts of America.
