Mr. Joe Lee Wilkerson

Shiloh Baptist Cemetery

SHILOH, TX - Funeral services for Mr. Joe Lee Wilkerson, age 81 of the Shiloh Community, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2006 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Donald Scott and Reverend Dean Register officiating. Interment will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Wilkerson passed away on Friday, June 30, 2006 at his home in the Shiloh Community.

Joe Lee Wilkerson was born on September 20, 1924 to Robert Joe and Minnie Pearl Davis Wilkerson. He attended the Yarnell School in Panola County. Mr. Wilkerson served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged. He married Geraldine Lynch on September 23, 1950 in DeBerry, Texas. Mr. Wilkerson worked as a Railcar Inspector for the Missouri Pacific, Texas Pacific, and Union Pacific Railroads for 35 years. He was a member of the V.F.W. and served as Commander for many years. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Car Men for 34 years. Mr. Wilkerson moved from Shreveport to the Shiloh Community in 1963 where he was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. Mr. Wilkerson was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Doris Wilkerson and Tom Wilkerson; and two sisters, Nevada Ivy and Ludie Mae LaGrone.

Mr. Wilkerson is survived by his wife of 55 years, Geraldine Wilkerson of Shiloh; two daughters, Jerry Anne Duke and husband Michael of Shiloh and Deborah Kaye Wilkerson of Shiloh; one brother Jack Wilkerson of Deadwood; two sisters, Beckie Coats of Deadwood and Norene Womack of Shreveport; two grandchildren, Kevin Duke and wife Jennifer of Shiloh and Kelley Mouch and husband Shane of Port Vincent, LA; three great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Camille, and Collin.

Serving as pallbearers are Randall Wilkerson, Buddy Ira LaGrone, Bobby Johnson, Butch Bagley, Barry Bagley, Ricky Womack, Danny Wilkerson, and Terry Womack. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Mr. Wilkerson's nephews.

The family would like to thank Jordan's Crossing Hospice of Shreveport, Dr. Robert Long, Nurse Brandi, Dr. Randy Del Mundo and the staff and nurses of the 4th floor at Willis Knighton Pierremont Hospital.
