Melvy Smith Evans

Old Union Cemetery, Hunter, DeSoto Parish, LA

CONVERSE, LA - Funeral services for Mrs. Melvy Smith Evans, 90, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday October 8, 2006 at Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield, LA with Rev. Alton Middleton officiating. Burial will be at Old Union Cemetery, Hunter Community, LA. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 7, 2006 from 5:00 until 9:00 P.m.

Mrs. Evans, a homemaker and native of Mansfield, LA, died October 5, 2006 in Pearland, TX.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Evans; infant son, Lester Ray Evans; and son Amos Gorden Evans.

She is survived by sons: Edward L. Evans and wife Marjorie, James Curtis Evans and Gene Earnest Evans; daughter, Doris Latham and husband Ronnie; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Evans, Marvin Evans, Robbie Evans, Mike Evans, Richie Evans, Robert Latham, Ray Allen Meshell and Clinton Jenkins.
