Vincent Gates Bounds

O E Price Cemetery, Logansport, LA

Vincent Gates Bounds passed away on April 26, 2006 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Born May 29, 1936 in Carthage, Texas, he was a resident of Segovia, Texas since 2000. He was an avid hunter and conservationist, as well as a true Texas oil man. He had a very successful 35 year career with Zapata Offshore Company and Marine Drilling Company. He retired as Senior Vice President and worldwide responsibility.

In his oil business career he traveled to England, Europe, Africa, China, Russia, Australia, Asia, South America, The Middle East, The United States and Canada, on a regular basis.

Mr. Bounds also advised former U. S. Presidents, George Herbert Walker Bush and Jimmy Carter, as well as several U.S. Congressional committees, concerning the oil industry.

He was a wonderful, loving, and generous husband, father and grandfather to this family.

He was also wonderful, generous, loyal and true to all who were fortunate enough to know him as their friend.

Mr. Bounds is survived by his wife, Melba Bounds, children; Vincent, Jr., Katrina Briggs and Vinceya Baum; grandchildren Morgan Briggs, Austin Briggs, Joshua Reiland and Philip Baum. He is preceded in death by his son Stephen Marc Bounds.

A service was held Saturday, April 29, 2006 at Gentry-Fife Funeral Home in Junction, Texas. There will be a graveside service in Price Cemetery in Logansport at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2006.
