Sandra Brumley Utsey "Nana"

Longstreet Memorial Cemetery, DeSoto Parish

MANSFIELD, LA - Sandra Brumley Utsey went to be with her Lord on Thursday, October 05, 2006. She passed away at her home surrounded by family and friends after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born November 6, 1944 to Robert Gaston and Syble Weeks Brumley. She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Charles Lee Utsey, one brother, Billy Brumley and wife Gloria of Mansfield, two daughters, Tracy Cowdin and husband Greg of Grand Cane and Teri Burns and husband Mark of Mansfield. Three step-children; Karen Moody and husband Gene of Longstreet, Leisa Hayes and husband Rodney of Mobile, AL, and Roy Utsey of Mobile, AL, 15 grandchildren: Amber, Dustin, Tori, Jakob, Ashton, Madyson, Alexis, John Lynn, Ashley, Brandi, Dakota, Corey, Lauren, Morgan, and Danielle, 3 great grandchildren: Nicholas, Alex, and Emma, and good friends: Betty Jean Peterson, Beverly Jackson, Doris Parker, and Geepie Blake. Sandra was preceded in death by her father, R.G. Brumley, a grandson, C.J. Puckett, and her mother, Syble Brumley (missing since April 28, 1997).

After retirement, Sandra and her husband Charlie moved to Converse and have lived on the banks of Toledo Bend for 7 years. They enjoyed their home, as well as, their hobbies, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Sandra loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Funeral services will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2006 with Bro. Frankie Mathis officiating. Interment will follow at Longstreet Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2006. Active pallbearers will be Jakob Ryder, Dustin Cowdin, Ashton Ryder, John Lynn Packett, Eddie Callendar, and Dwayne Blake. Honorary pallbearers will be W.C. Jackson and Warren Parker.

The family would like to thank you, the many wonderful friends for your dedication and kindness during this very sad time in our lives, with special thanks to Dr. V and Nancy at the Willis Knighton Cancer Center, and Ginger and Felecia at Odyssey Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, Sandra wishes were for donations to be made to Cornerstone Ministries Building Fund, 593 Cordova Rd., Logansport, LA 71049.
