Millard W. Runnels

Longstreet Cemetery, Longstreet, LA

Graveside services for Millard Winfred Runnels, 79, of Logansport, were held at 11:00 a.m. on April 4, 2006, at Longstreet Cemetery in Longstreet. Visitation was held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Monday, April 3, 2006, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Mr. Runnels passed away on March 31, 2006, in Shreveport.

He was born in Shiloh on July 5, 1926 to Adron and Minnie Runnels. He served his country in the Army from 1944 to 1946. On returning home, he met Thelma Phipps who became his wife of 57 years. Mr. Runnels was a brick mason by trade and loved gardening and working in his shop making wood carvings, bird and squirrel feeders, and walking canes.

Mr. Runnels is preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Runnels; and his parents, Adron and Minnie Runnels.

He is survived by his sons, Andrew, Dean and Roger Runnels; daughter, Twyla Barrett; and eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Steve Morris, Roger Runnels II, Ben Saldivar, John Smitherman, Butch Patterson, Stefan Ygdevik, Louis McGinty and Maurice Moore.
