Ralph Ernest Laenger

Keatchie Cemetery

KEATCHIE, LA -Funeral services celebrating the life of Ralph Ernest Laenger, 79, will be held at Kilpatrick's Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, Monday, July 24, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. Reverend Murray Hodge of Summer Grove Baptist Church will preside, assisted by Chaplain Steve Slaughter. Interment will follow in Keatchie Cemetery, Keatchie, LA.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Sunday, July 23, 2006 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Ralph entered into rest Friday, July 21, 2006 in Shreveport, LA. He was born in Shreveport, November 5, 1926 to the late Ernest Laenger and Pearl Laborde Laenger. Ralph resided in Keatchie for 28 years. He graduated from Fair Park High School and LA Tech University. He was a member and Deacon of Keatchie Baptist Church until 2003 and was a current member of Summer Grove Baptist Church. Ralph proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and proudly served his community as the Mayor of Keatchie from 1979 until 1984. He retired from United Gas after 38 years of faithful service as a petroleum engineer. Ralph was also a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Ralph was lucky enough a second time when he found Jeanette. They enjoyed simple pleasures and each other. They provided optimism and strength to each other in the good and difficult times they have shared through their 15 years together. In those trying times, they remained steadfast in their love to each other and their faith in God.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and first wife of 41 years, Ama Allen Laenger.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette B. Cole Laenger; his sons, Allen Laenger and wife, Mary, Matt Laenger and wife, Denise; his daughters, Debbie Hudson and husband, Steve, Pam Hollifield and husband, Bill; step-children, Gary Crawford and wife, Becky, and Roxanne Hayes; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Laenger, Daniel Laenger, Christopher Laenger, Chase Hudson, Steve Hudson, and Bill Hollifield.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Heritage Manor South and of Odyssey Hospice for their supportive care.
