Toledo Bend Tribune Friday, March 03, 2006 Obituaries Manuel J. “Cap” Captain Cool Spring Cemetery, Logansport, LA LOGANSPORT - Funeral services for Manuel J. “Cap” Captain, 87, were held on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Chapel in Logansport, with the Rev. Charles Freeman officiating. Mrs. Frances Freeman and Rev. Stephen Fife assisted in the service. Interment followed in Cool Spring Cemetery in Logansport. The family received visitors from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2006, at the funeral home. Mr. Captain, who was born in Honduras, South America, died on February 25, 2006 in Center, Texas after a lengthy illness. He had been a resident of Logansport for 37 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Jorge and Manuella Captain; and sister Gloria Captain. He is survived by his wife Hazel Captain; sons George Captain and Frank “Corkey” Stratton and wife Debbie; daughters Pamela Captain, Mary Lou Bernard and husband Danny, and Elizabeth Speights; sister Mary Rosada; brothers Frank Captain; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Mr. Captain was a commercial artist. He was a member of the Logansport Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club, a Mason and contributed much to the Logansport area with his artwork. He was active in all the surrounding area and was loved by all who knew him. Pallbearers were Jody Matthews, Mark Matthews, Dennis Matthews, Chris Stratton, Mitch Miller and Craig Stratton.
