The Shreveport Times Obituaries Thursday, December 09, 2005 Jonathan Patrick Clemons MANSFIELD, LA - Jonathan Patrick Clemons, age 16, a lifelong resident of Mansfield passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2005. Services for Jonathan will be Saturday, December 10 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Mansfield. The family will receive visitors Friday, December 9 at Rose-Neath funeral home, Mansfield from 5 - 9 p.m. Survivors include his mother Susan Simmons Clemons; father Jon Pat Clemons; sister Lauren Elizabeth Clemons; maternal grandparents Tommy and Judy Simmons; paternal grandparents Jon and Faye Clemons; great-grandfather Thomas W. Troegel, Sr; great-grandparents CW and Anita Simmons; as well as a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Jonathan was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and competing in the shooting sports. During the time that Jonathan was a member of the DeSoto Youth Sportsmen Team, he won numerous individual awards as well as being a member of the following state and national teams. Jonathan was always ranked among the Top 15 Competitors for the last 5 years. 2001 - La State Junior Team Champions- National Junior Grand Champion Team 2002 - La State Junior Team Champions- National Junior Grand Champion Team 2004 - La State Junior Team Champions - National Junior Grand Champion Team 2005 - La State Senior 2nd place Team At the Junior National Sporting Clay Championship, Jonathan competed in the D class and won the following awards: Overall 2end place, 1st place preliminary event, Compact 1st place, Main Event 2nd place, Fitace 4th place. Jonathan also placed 3rd in Diamond Cup competing in the C Class. While a student at North DeSoto Middle School: Student Council President 2003-2004; Student Council member all 4 years; Member of Mardi Gras Court; Superintendent's list all four years; nominated for Student of the Year; FCA Team Leader; Local, Parish and State Science and Social Studies Fair Winner. While a student at North DeSoto High School, Jonathan was a member of the following clubs: FBLA, Spanish club, Drama, 4-H, FFA, FCA, Literary Rally Regional Winner; and State Literary Rally Participant; Superintendent List every semester. Toledo Bend Tribune Thursday, December 15, 2005 Jonathan Patrick Clemons “Spanky” Highland Cemetery, Mansfield, DeSoto Parish, LA Jonathan Patrick Clemons, age 16, of Mansfield, passed away suddenly on December 7, 2005, due to a rare heart condition called Wolf Parkinson White (W.P.W.). Funeral services for Jonathan, who was a lifelong resident of Mansfield, were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005 at First Baptist Church of Mansfield, with Bro. Joe Waggoner officiating, Bro. Roy “Thumper” Miller and Bro. Bob Latham assisting. Interment followed at Highland Cemetery. The family received visitors on Friday, December 9, 2005, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield from 5-9 p.m. He was born October 26, 1989, the son of Jon Pat Clemons and Susan Simmons Clemons. Jonathan was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Bennie Jo Troegel. He is survived by his parents; a sister, Lauren Elizabeth Clemons; maternal grandparents, Tommy and Judy Simmons; paternal grandparents, Jon and Faye Clemons; great grandfather Thomas W. At the Junior Sporting Clay Championship, Jonathan competed in the D Class and won the following awards: Overall Second Place, First Place Preliminary Event, Compact First Place, Main Event Second Place, Fitace Fourth Place. Jonathan also placed Third in Diamond Cup, competing in the C Class. While a student at North De Soto Middle School, Jonathan was elected Student Council President 2003 – 2004, was on the Student Council for four years; Member of Mardi Gras Court, and was named to the Superintendent’s List all four years; Nominated for Student of the Year, FCA Team Leader; Local, Parish and State Science and Social Studies Fair Winner. Jonathan was also a member and participated in the following activities at North DeSoto High School: FBLA, Spanish Club, Drama, 4-H, FFA, FCA, Literary Rally Regional Winner and State Literary Participant. Pallbearers were Alex Troegel, Chet Carpenter, Dusty Hasty, Brian Toups, Nick “Bud” Raines, Daniel Cobb, Chad Primos and J. T. Hawthorne. Special honorary pallbearers were Eric Beasley, Jacob Carpenter, Jeffery Jeansonne, Nick Caraway and Landon Royer. Honorary pallbearers were all present and past DeSoto Youth Sportsmen Team members and coaches. The family would like to thank the EMT’s, the emergency personnel, doctors and nurses at DeSoto Regional Health System, the Life Air Flight Crew, the doctors and nurses at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, and our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Dennis Kamberov. A scholarship fund will be set up in Jonathan’s memory.
