The Shreveport Times Friday, September 09, 2005 William Carlton Gentry, Sr. Old Union Cemetery, Catuna, DeSoto, LA GRAND CANE, LA - William Carlton Gentry, Sr., 89, passed away at home surrounded by his family on September 7, 2005 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield. Rev. Leland Wade, retired Methodist minister, will officiate, assisted by Rev. Ken Norton, minister of First Methodist Church in Mansfield. Burial will follow at Old Union Cemetery in Catuna. The family will receive friends Friday, September 9, 2005 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Carlton served as a Tech Sergeant/Armament Chief in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II in the European Theater. He was co-owner of Gentry & Holder Floors, Inc. until his retirement in 1976. He and his wife, Mildred, then moved to their farm in Holly, Louisiana. He was a member of First Methodist Church of Mansfield. Carlton enjoyed many years of hunting, fishing, and farming. Carlton was a wonderful and caring husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mildred; sons, Bill Gentry and wife, Linda; Mike Gentry and wife, Judy; Scott Gentry and wife, Terry; his daughter, Mary Beth Touchstone and husband, Tim; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons. The family extends a special thanks to the caregivers from Willis Knighton Hospice for their dedicated care and compassion and also to Gwen Green for her care and service to Mr. Gentry.
