The Shreveport Times Monday, November 07, 2005 Gail Garcia Highland Cemetery, Mansfield, DeSoto Parish, LA MANSFIELD, LA - Funeral services for Gail Garcia, 60, will be held at Rose-Neath Chapel on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Ken Norton. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, Mansfield, LA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Garcia passed away on November 5, 2005 in Shreveport, LA.. She was born in Beaumont, Texas and was a lifelong resident of Mansfield, LA. She was a retired Director of Personnel from DeSoto Parish School System. Mrs. Garcia was a member of The First United Methodist Church in Mansfield, LA. Mrs. Garcia was in the DeSoto Parish School System for over 35 years during that time she spent 20 years as a teacher and 6 years as an administrator of Mansfield High School, and her last 9 years as the Director of Personnel where she retired in 2004. She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; she was currently a member of Phi Delta Kappa, Mansfield, Lions Club, National Association of Secondary School Principals, Louisiana Association of Supervisors and Instructors. She was the State Secretary of Louisiana Personnel Directors Association; and a former member of the Mansfield Pilot Club. Preceded in death by: father, Leon Melton, and Simon Garcia, Jr. Survivors: son, Leon Blaine Garcia; daughter, Stacey Bice Sebren and husband, Wesley; mother, Maxine Melton; sister, Karen Calvert and husband, Bill; brothers, Mike Melton and wife, Pam, and Ricky Melton and wife, Barbara; granddaughter, Ashlee Gale Sebren. Pallbearers: Dr. David Rougeau, Ed Jordan, Richard Wilkinson, Wayne Hooper, Ronnie Land and Curt Nix. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorials be made to: American Diabetes Association.
