The Shreveport Times Obituaries Friday, December 16, 2005 Addie Bell Carter Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Frierson, DeSoto Parish, LA SHREVEPORT, LA - Addie Bell Carter, 95, finished her earthly journey December 10, 2005. She was born May 6, 1910 in Desoto Parish to Hayes and Lizzie Johnson. Her home-going celebration will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2005 at 12:00 noon at the New Friendship Baptist Church, Frierson, LA. Pastor E.R. Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet visitors during family hour Friday, December 16 from 6-7 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 1960 Laurel St. Mrs. Carter was a life-long member of her beloved church, New Friendship. She served as an usher, a choir member, worked on the Mission and Deaconess Boards. Mrs. Carter was a favorite child care provider for families in the Cedar Grove area, during 1963-1985. Preceding her in death were her loving husband of 60 years, Deacon Ivory Carter; her parents: Hayes and Lizzie Johnson; three sisters: Mary Starks, Birdie Demming, Hayes White and one brother, Roosevelt Johnson. Left to cherish her memory are her six children: Laureice Carter, Mercie Cravinas, Roosevelt (Gwen) Carter of North Carolina; Lessie (Herman) Houston of Keithville, LA; Ivory (Willie) Jones, Adele Burton of Shreveport, LA; six grandchildren: Bryan, Dexter, Diarmuid, Daunielle, Jamari and Jamila and nine great grandchildren; special nieces: Evalena (Rev. Rufus) Bonds, Gussie Hayes, and Gladys (Robert) Carter; two special nephews: Tennie C. and Burlie Carter; special care-givers: Margie Ann Carter and Jennie Nash, along with a host of wonderful cousins, friends, and neighbors. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff at Doctor's Hospital, Life Care, Smart Home Care, Nurse Care, Garden Park Home and St. Joseph's Hospice for a job well done.
