Wilson, Sr. Evergreen Cemetery, Frierson, DeSoto Pr., LA SHREVEPORT, LA - A memorial service for Thomas Buffington Wilson, Sr. will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2005 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Officiating will be Rev. Guido Verbeck, assisting will be Father Paul Martin. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Frierson, LA, I-49 south to Stonewall-Frierson Exit, turn left on Hwy 175, cemetery is less than a mile on the right. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 1, 2005 at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Funeral Home. Mr. Wilson was born in New Orleans, LA on June 20, 1913 to Dr. Thomas Buffington Wilson of Baton Rouge and Annie Leigh Frierson of Shreveport and DeSoto Parish. He was a descendant of Martha Washington and Nellie Custus, the family of the first president of the United States, and is also a descendant of Thomas Taylor Williamson, one of the seven founders of the city of Shreveport. He was educated in grade schools in Frierson and Shreveport, Gulf Coast Military Academy, Marion Military Institute, George Washington University and graduated from the Law School of Louisiana State University. Mr. Wilson served his country in the 204th C.A. (A.A.) of the United States Army, holding positions as Battalion Executive Officer and Group Plans and Training Officer. He spent nearly three years in the European Theatre during World War II, taking part in the Normandy Landing and the invasions of France, Belgium, Holland and Germany, receiving five campaign ribbons. Mr. Wilson retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Mr. Wilson practiced law in Shreveport and Bossier City beginning in 1937 and was Prosecuting Attorney of Shreveport and Assistant U.S. Attorney. He was a member of the Louisiana Bar Association for sixty years and Bossier Bar Association. In 1956 he established Bossier Crossroads, Inc., a continuing family owned corporation with a shopping center and financial investments. An active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, he was a lay reader and served on the Vestry. Mr. Wilson enjoyed many activities including The Shreveport Club, North Louisiana Historical Association, Community Council, Caddo Parish Welfare Board, Jeems Bayou Hunting and Fishing Club and was past President of the English Speaking Union. He loved his week-end home in Frierson where he enjoyed his hobby, bee keeping. He especially enjoyed sharing his honey with his family and many friends. The Wilsons loved to travel and often went to England and Wales where his wife was born. Survivors are his loving wife and best friend of 62 years, Dilys Jones Wilson of Shreveport, LA; one son, Thomas B. "Buff" Wilson, Jr. and wife, Marsha Elliott Wilson of Shreveport, LA; two grandsons, Thomas B. Wilson, III of Shreveport, LA and John Reid Wilson and wife, Amye Lott Wilson of Dallas, TX; granddaughter, Jordan Burnett Pearce and husband, Michael Benjamin Pearce of Wichita, KS; and many dear cousins, nieces and nephews of the Frierson family. Serving, as pallbearers will be Thomas B. Wilson, III, John Reid Wilson, Sam Beaudion, Buddy Moorehead, Eugene Moorehead and Dr. Malcolm Yarnell. Honorary pallbearers will be George Wray, Jr., Jack Kennedy, Glen Mason, Don Weir, Buckner Ogilvie, Clarence Frierson and all the family members of The Friday Bridge Club. The family is grateful for the loving care given to Mr. Wilson throughout his illness, especially Clothilda LaCour, Peggy Anthony, Susie Price and Annie Stewart.
