W. Charles Brown

Smyrna Cemetery, Grand Cane

SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Mr. W. Charles Brown, 69, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 1, 2008 at Smyrna Presbyterian Church in Grand Cane, LA. Officiating will be Reverend Ronnie Brown. Interment with military honors will follow in Smyrna Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 31, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside.

Mr. Brown was born in Mansfield, LA to Warren Calvin and Bernice Crenshaw Brown on August 15, 1938. He passed away in Shreveport on January 29, 2008.

Mr. Brown was a graduate of Northwestern State University and Tulane Law School. He was an attorney in Mansfield, LA for many years. He had the honor to serve as District Judge for DeSoto and Sabine Parishes for six years. Mr. Brown also served as the city attorney for the town of Logansport, LA. He was a civic and community leader actively serving in many leadership roles, especially enjoying serving as chairman of the DeSoto Parish Historical Society. Mr. Brown was actively involved in Smyrna Presbyterian Church where he was an elder. He served on numerous committees and agencies in the Presbytery. Mr. Brown proudly served his nation in the U.S. Army. He served as Captain in the Military Police in Fort Benning, Georgia.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Terrell Brown; grandson, Danny Kevin Duddy, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Carol Chapman Brown; daughters, Denise Dunn, Diana Bedsole and husband Kevin, D'Lana Norton; son, Warren Charles Brown, Jr.; brother, Ronnie Brown and wife Leta; and seven grandchildren.
