J. B. "Buddy" Bankson

Rambin Cemetery

MANSFIELD, LA- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 305 Jefferson St., Mansfield, LA. for Buddy Bankson, age 65 of Mansfield, LA on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Celebrating the Mass will be Fr. Larry Niehoff, directing the music will be Fr. Tim Hurd. The graveside services will follow at the Rambin Cemetery. Visitation will be at Centuries Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a vigil service conducted by Msgr. J. Carson La Caze at 6:00 p.m. Buddy entered into rest on Monday, April 7, 2008 at the V.A. Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy in Vietnam. He retired from the Navy as a Senior Chief with twenty years of service. Buddy was a licensed funeral director serving the families of Mansfield and Shreveport for many years. Most of all he was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who was greatly loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack Bankson and Bitsy Williams, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bice.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty one and a half years, Dale Bankson; one daughter, Melynda R. Blankenship and husband Tony of West Monroe, LA; one son, Bryan C. Bankson and wife Wendy of Suffolk, VA.; two brothers, Mack Wellman Bankson, and George B. "Pete" Moncrief and wife Linda, all of Shreveport, LA.; four grandchildren, Zayne and Emily Bankson, and Julia and Will Blankenship; Buddy's Tucson family, Lou Bankson " second mom", Susan and Chuck Condos, Patti and Sam Anderson, Joanne Geekas and Gary, Dean and Dianne Geekas, Lee Bankson, Rosemary and Gibb Davis, Bonnie Bankson; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Bennett, Harold E. "Tub" Ford, Teddy Ray Basco, Roger Basco, Rodney Basco, Paul Hesser, Robert E. Cowling, Jr. and Edmund Niec.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and or the donor's choice.
