Edwina Marjorie Walker Russell

O. E. Price Cemetery, Logansport

LOGANSPORT, LA- Edwina Marjorie Walker Russell, widow of Thomas James Russell, was born June 7, 1919 in Sibley, Louisiana left her family and friends on March 6, 2008 after a short illness.

The funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 2008 at The First United Methodist Church of Logansport. Bro. Kemper Smith will be officiating. Burial will follow at O. E. Price cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Logansport Chapel.

She came to Logansport in 1938 as a nineteen-year-old recent graduate of Northwestern State University and spent the next 37 years as a second grade teacher at Logansport High School. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma honorary teacher’s sorority. She was active in The First United Methodist Church of Logansport. She loved working in her yard and cut the grass with a non-riding power lawn mower until just several years ago.

Edwina was predeceased by her husband of forty-seven years, James.

She is the loving Mother of two children, Marsha Jane Russell McCoy and her husband Mac of Logansport and Thomas James Russell and his wife Mayra of Montgomery Village, Maryland. She has two grandchildren Miranda Blount and her husband Dane and Earl Carlton (Monty) McCoy and his wife Kayla and two precious great-grandchildren Rylie Blount and Carlton McCoy, all of Logansport. She has two sisters Doris Walker Smith of Austin Texas and Eleanor Walker Bamberg of Ashland Louisiana; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Rex Clark, Jack Gamble, John Russell, Wayne Spears, Loys Vidler, and Charles Woods.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like any memorials or donations be made to The First United Methodist Church of Logansport and Grace Home of Shreveport.
