Otis L. "Butch" Hendrix

Mansfield Cemetry, DeSoto Parish, LA

MANSFIELD, LA- Otis L. "Butch" Hendrix passed away peacefully on February 8, 2008 after a lengthy illness. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 11, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 E. Polk Street, Mansfield, Louisiana. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Mansfield Cemetery

Butch was born on February 1, 1934 in Alexandria, Louisiana. He was the son of Joe W. Hendrix and Noreen Withrow Hendrix. His father moved his family to Shreveport in 1940, where Butch lived until he moved to Dallas, Texas to work for Joe W. Hendrix and Sons Construction Company prior to joining the Army. Butch married Joan Holley on November 26, 1955 in Maud, Texas. He served in the United States Army at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Aberdeen, Maryland from 1956 to 1958. After receiving his Honorable Discharge from the Army, he worked for Hendrix Manufacturing Company in Mansfield. He retired from Hendrix Manufacturing Company as Vice President and Safety Director after over 40 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mansfield, Louisiana. Butch loved to play with his children and grandchildren, to play golf, watch football and drive his 68' Dodge Power Wagon, also known as the "Big O Patrol." Butch was an extraordinary husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joe W. Hendrix and his mother, Noreen Withrow and his brothers, Hoube J. Hendrix and William "Bill" R. Hendrix.

Survivors are his sister, Verna Mae Miller; his loving wife, Joan Holley Hendrix; his son, Joey W. Hendrix; his daughters, Holley Hendrix Bissett and her husband, Joe Bissett and Mary Lee Hendrix Hanneman and her husband, Rob Hanneman; his grandchildren, Cole Hendrix, Gunner Hendrix, Maxx Hanneman and Nash Hanneman; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends, young and old.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Mansfield, Louisiana.
