Margaret Holmes Parker Rives

Grand Cane Cemetery, DeSoto Parish

GRAND CANE, LA - Funeral Services for Margaret Holmes Parker Rives, 92, will be 10:00 am Friday, March 21, 2008 at the Kilpatrick's Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Mansfield, LA. Officiating will be Bro. David Permenter assisted by Bro. Dan McBride, Sr. Burial will follow in the Grand Cane Cemetery, Grand Cane, LA. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, March 20, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.

Margaret was born in Grand Cane, LA on November 23, 1915 to George and Nannie Parker. She passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 in Grand Cane, LA with her family by her side. Margaret was a graduate of Louisiana State Normal College (Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, LA) where she was member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. She retired from teaching school after 39 years. She was a privileged member of the Delta Kappa Gamma. During her life Margaret was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a member of the Grand Cane Baptist Church where she was the instrumentalist for many years and an active member of the Grand Cane WMU.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Albert Martin Rives, III; parents George and Nannie Parker; and one brother George Norman Parker. She leaves behind to cherish her memories three sons Albert Martin Rives, IV and wife Cheryl, Judson Rives and wife Hilda and Robert Parker Rives and wife Janet; two daughters Margaret Virginia Rives McBride and husband Dan and Nanette Rives Hoefly and husband Chris; and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Honoring Margaret as pallbearers will be her grandsons Ryan Wade Hampton, Patrick Scott Rives, Robert Martin Rives, Dan McBride, III, William Nott McBride, and James Rives McBride. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nicholas and Christopher Hoefly and John Shirey.
