Jimmy Ray Martin, Sr.

Evergreen Cemetery, Frierson

SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of Jimmy Ray Martin, Sr., 70, will be conducted Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. in Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend John Cannon and Dr. Tom Harrison. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Frierson, LA.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday, November 3, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Martin was born February 7, 1938 to Zack and Mary Prudhomme Martin.

He was a lifelong resident of Shreveport. He and his wife owned and operated Martin's Grocery on Highway 1 in Shreveport. Mr. Martin's friendliness and love of life will be missed by his family and all who knew him. He passed away at Willis-Knighton Pierremont October 31, 2008.

Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Margie Crosslin. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Martin; his children, Cindy Hood and husband, Keith; Renee Brocato and husband, Steve; Jimmy Ray Martin, Jr. and wife, Amie; one sister, Mary Barnes; his grandchildren, Jennifer Moses and her husband, David, Martin Reynolds, Tyler Brocato, Stephanie Noel and her husband, Brady, Amy Lloyd and her husband, Josh, Marie Martin, Michael Martin; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Sgt. David "Tree" Burks, Eddie Scott, Willard Scott, Mike Scott, Kent Neal, David Moses, Jay Davis, and Bennie Peek.

Mr. Martin's family extends special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff of Willis-Knighton Pierremont for their compassionate care and attentiveness to Mr. Martin and his family. They also thank the Caddo Parish Sheriff Deputies and the neighboring Caddo Parish Sheriff Training Academy for their association, visits, and patronage.
