Larry Wayne Jenkins

Larry Wayne Jenkins died Sept. 18 at his home in Beggs after a fight with cancer. He was 64.

Jenkins was born July 7, 1945, in Ada . At 3, he moved to Logansport, La , where he went to school and graduated from Logansport High School in 1963. He attended Louisiana Tech for a short time and then joined the U.S. Marines and served for four years during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Oriskany.

Jenkins met his wife in California during his enlistment and they were married March 2, 1968, in San Mateo, Calif. From this union four sons were born.

When Jenkins returned to Logansport, he went to work for the telephone company. After eight years, he moved to Oklahoma and went into business with his father. In his final years, he worked for Locomotive Repair Services in Beggs.

The things that brought him the most joy were his children and grandchildren and attending Marine reunions all over the country.

Jenkins was preceded in death by his grandparents-parents: Lena and Clarence Baker; mother: Lorene Jenkins; brother: David Wilson; and sister: Lona Prince.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years: Darlene Runchey Jenkins; sons: Larry J. Jenkins and wife Heidi; Brian Jenkins and wife Jamie; Aaron Jenkins and wife Mona of Bixby; and Mike Jenkins and wife Traci of Glenpool; 11 grandchildren: Kim, John, Samantha, Emilie, Kelsey, Jared, Kaitlyn and Kenzie Jenkins; Luke and Josie Stout; and Jacob Clemmons; father: Cleve Jenkins Jr.; step-father R.C. Wilson of Ada; sisters: Glenda Herring of Mounds; Debbie Jenkins of Tulsa; brothers: Billy Jenkins of Coweta, Ray Jenkins of Wagner and Mike Jenkins of Coweta.

A memorial service was held Sept. 24 at Schaudt’s Glenpool Funeral Service Chapel.
