Sherri Collier

O. E. Price Cemetery, Logansport

STONEWALL, LA - Sherri S. Collier passed away June 27, 2009, at Christus Schumpert Highland Hospital.

Sherri was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, and mother. She was born August 21, 1962, in Cape Girardeau, MO to Clinton and Doris Hodges. She attended the Oran Public Schools in Oran, Missouri and graduated from Cape Girardeau Technology School as a respiratory technician.

Sherri moved to the Shreveport area in 1985. She was employed at Schumpert Hospital in the respiratory unit and in recent years the Wellness Center.

On November 7, 1987, she married D. Scott Collier. To this union was born Chelsey Paige Collier of the home.

She is survived by her parents of Oran, MO; two brothers - Steve (Barb) Hodges of Shelby, NC and Brian (Jenny) Hodges of St. Charles, MO; two sisters - Debra (Jamie) Rowlett of Lenexa, KS and Teresa (James Perkins) Hodges of Lewisport, KY. She is also survived by five nephews and two nieces. She will be missed by her other family members and many friends.

Sherri fought a valiant fight against her lung cancer and her family would like to thank the community for the support that was given to Sherri at the Benefit in her honor, which was held in 2006. Sherri's goal was to educate the public about lung cancer and to advance research toward a cure. Sherri's career as a respiratory therapist provided her an opportunity to educate people about preventive measures that can be taken to help minimize the spread and progression of lung disease.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sherri's honor to The American Lung Association, 61 Broadway 6th Floor, New York City, NY 10006.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Southside Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at O.E. Price Cemetery in Logansport, LA.

Honoring Sherri as Pallbearers will be Greg Ellis, Mike Ricardo, Jeff Trammel, James Breedlove, W.H. Stone, Jerry Thomas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Connor and Price Moore. Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Southside Chapel 687-1256.
