Troup Banner, Troup, TX: February 19, 1931 FUNERAL CONDUCTED TUESDAY AT TROUP FOR H.J. WILBOURN Funeral services for H.J. Wilbourn 80, were conducted at the family home near Troup Tuesday afternoon by the Rev. H.M. Ward, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Troup, with burial in Bedford Cemetery. Mr. Wilbourn, Pioneer of this section, died at his home at 3:10 Monday afternoon, after an illness of Bronchial Trouble that had lasted some four weeks. He was born in Omen Dec. 10, 1851. He was likeable, progressive and a valuable citizen to the town and community and possessed a multitude of friends. He was a charter member of the Woodmen fraternity here in Troop. Surviving are seven children. They are R. L. Wilbourn of Houston, Mrs. Tom Collier and Mrs. H.R. Fletcher, both of Troup; Mrs. Ed Rice of Austin and Mrs. S.L. Smith and Mrs. Reagan Hodges, both of Troup. One brother survives, Lon Wilbourn of Troup; a sister, Mrs. Lee Glaspie of the Brown community, some seven miles northwest of Troup. Active pallbearers were his two sons, R.L. of Houston and C.J. Wilbourn of Troup; two son-in-laws, S.L. Smith and Reagan Hodges, both of Troup, and two Nephews, Hoyt Wilbourn of Troup and Frank Wilbourn of Mt. Selman. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Cross, J.A. Drake, Arthur Saber, C.T. May, Jim Norris, george P. Jones, J.P. Seale and Dr. A.S. Jarvis, all of Troup. Among the out-of-town relatives here for the funeral were the following, all from Houston: Mrs. L.T. Dierlam, Miss Jo Anita Dierlam. H.J. Wilbourn II, Mrs. Epsie Wilbourn, Mrs. Charlotte Cutting, Bobby Cutting and R.H. Wilbourn.
