WOOD-SNELL CEMETERY ,( aka Old Harvey Cemetery ),San Augustine County

LOCATION: Six miles Southeast of Broaddus, Texas.  Take State Hwy. #83, turn right on Fm. Rd. #2390, (Harvey Creek Park Road),  go to the second crossroads, turn right and follow the signs.  The cemetery cannot be seen from the road. It is along a trail that goes behind the former home of Tom and Leona (Harvey) Snell. The cemetery is enclosed within  a chain link fence, and is very well maintained by a descendent,  Mr. Donice Snell (now deceased) of Broaddus. This cemetery was originally known as the Harvey Cemetery, but when the McGee Bend Reservoir  (later changed to Sam Rayburn Lake), was built, the name of the cemetery  was changed to Wood-Snell Cemetery. It was named for two of the son-in-laws  of Blassingham W. Harvey, Elias Owen Hawthorne Wood and Joseph Orlando Snell.

Surveyed Jan.2,2004 by Debra Coursey Pitts & son DJ.
