Aldeen Barbee

KILGORE — Services for Aldeen Barbee, 86, of Kilgore, longtime owner and operator of the Charburger Restaurant in Kilgore, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2002, at the First Baptist Church of Kilgore with the Rev. David Hampton and the Rev. Buddy Duggins officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Cemetery. Mrs. Barbee died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, in Tyler.

She was born April 16, 1916, in Colbert, Okla. Mrs. Barbee moved to Kilgore in 1943. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and the owner of the Peak Cafˇ, the Smokehouse and later the Charburger. Mrs. Barbee operated her restaurants under the honor system, where the customers made their own change. All who knew her loved her.

Mrs. Barbee is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Merita Barbee of Kilgore; a grandson, Robert Barbee of Kilgore; a granddaughter and her husband, Julyann and Kyle Huckabee of Kilgore; a great-grandson, Austin Robert Huckabee of Kilgore; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Barbee was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Dera Schiemenz.

The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. today, May 16, at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.

Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church of Kilgore.
