Hunt Cemetery is located southeast of Henderson on 840, turn right onto 308 then left on 307D. Comments have been supplied by Deason Hunt. This cemetery was found bout 1852, by the Thomas Hunt Sr. family who cam in 1851 from Blount Co. TN.  Thomas Hunt Sr. was born about 1787 and died in Rusk Co. in 1858.(Rusk Co. Probate Records)  

On April 27, 2002, there will be a Dedication Service for the Confederate veterans that are buried in this cemetery:

The two below have Confederate markers:

Pvt. William Marshall Hunt   Co. B, 5th Brigade, Texas State Troops

Pvt. J. C. D. Rushton   Co. C, 14th Georgia Light Artillery

These do not have markers yet:

Pvt. John W. Hunt   Co. G, 18th Texas Volunteer Infantry

Pvt. Thomas Leander Hunt   Co. H, 19th Texas Volunteer Infantry

Pvt. John D. Ables   Co. G, 12th Texas Cavalry

Pvt. James T. Lantrip   Co. E, 15th Tennessee Infantry

Pvt. Joseph McNeely   Co. G, 18th Texas Volunteer Infantry  
(Pvt. McNeely was killed at the Battle of Mansfield and is buried there, but his widow, Mrs. A. C. Hunt is buried in the Hunt Cemetery, so we thought we would honor him also.)

Capt. Rickey Hunt of Co. A, 19th Texas Volunteer  and Vin Vinson will be conducting the Services.
