Orene Rhoades

Orene Rhoades, 88, of Greenville died Wednesday at Briarcliff Health Center. Private funeral services are at the Mount Carmel Chapel with Rev. Stone Risinger officiating. Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Daughter of Robert W. Norris and Mary Lee Bradley, she was born April 22, 1910 in Quinlan. She married Dwight Rhoades on July 4, 1943 in Leonard.

Mrs. Rhoades was a school teacher, retired, with Greenville Independent School District. She was a member of Central Christian Church.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Dwilene and Steven L. Korby of Dallas; a brother, Norman Norris of Mena, Ark.; sisters-in-law Ruth Arnold and Nell Esslinger, both of Greenville; granddaughter and husband Sophie and Charles Dowling of New York; grandson John McNabb of New York and great-grandson Henry Tappan Dowling of New York.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 25, 1999; three brothers and two sisters.

Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
