James Gardner

ABERFOYLE - Services for James R. Gardner, 74, of the Aberfoyle Community will be 2 p.m. Monday at R. W. Owens & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Adair Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. He died Saturday at his residence.

Born in the Aberfoyle Community on July 24, 1924, he was the son of Steward J. and Ora Pearl Goodwin Gardner. He married June Orum on Nov. 13, 1962 and she preceded him in death in 1988. He was a farmer and a rancher, a veteran of World War II and a member of Church of Christ in Wolfe City.

He is survived by two sons, Ray Gardner of Tira and David Gardner of Wolfe City; six daughters, Lena Fay Wallace of Ridgeway, Barbara Kay Woodruff of Wolfe City, Loretta Maye Luckett of Commerce, and Charlotte Rhenea Gardner, Melia Senea Gardner and Pamela Reshea Gardner, all of Wolfe City; two brothers, Dwight Gardner and Charles Gardner, both of Wolfe City and 10 grandchildren.

Pallbearers include Billy Orum, Donald Orum, Ricky Duncan, Mike Duncan, Vernon Kiser, Tommy Gardner, Bobby Dale Williams and Mike Barker.

Visitation is scheduled from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
