Robert H. Butler

WOLFE CITY - Robert H. Butler, 83, of Wolfe City died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville after a lengthy illness. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Bailey and Rev. Roger Pugh officiating. Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Born Feb. 18, 1915, in Gober, Fannin County, he was the son of John William and Savanah Idella Wagner Butler. He married Mildred Tiffee on Feb. 5, 1936, in Wolfe City. He was a retired farmer and rancher.

Mr. Butler had been a member of the Aberfoyle Baptist Church in the Aberfoyle Community for 50 years and served as a deacon for many of those years.

Surviving are his wife of Wolfe City; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Dale and Janice Butler of Weatherford; three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and David Hightower of Lenexa, Kan., Judy and John Silman of Cooper and Kathy and Steven Turner of Commerce; a brother, Cecil "Jack" Butler of Wolfe City; a sister, Ina Mae Lunsford of McKinney; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.

Pallbearers are Marvin Pack, Billy Pack, Randy Butler, Joe Paul Butler, William Tiffee, Johnny Tiffee, Tommy Gardner Sr. and Jon Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are Dorsey Turner, Geraldine McKay, Norris Easley, Joe Williams, Boyd Long, Bill Goodman, Tom Trezise, Bobby Williams, Lee Padgett, Raymond McCaslin, Tommy Caldwell, Lonnie Beadles and Bobby Owens.
