J.L. Isham, 81, of Greenville died June 28, 2006, in Dallas.  He is survived by his wife, Alice Isham; sons Brian Isham and wife Karen, Roy Hammett and wife Patricia and Steve Hammett; a brother, Marvin Isham and wife Betty; three nieces; one nephew and five grandchildren.   Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Lynch Funeral Service. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Forest Park Cemetery in Greenville.

Funeral services for Zola Faye Hughey Weatherford, 90, of Kaufman, were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 21, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel, with James Hughey, Carol Walker, Phil Hughey, Joe Hughey and Charles McWatters officiating.  Burial was in Forest Park Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Kim McBride, Clemente Medina, Keith Hughey, Steve Hennessee, Don Hughey, and Jim Bass.  Mrs. Weatherford passed awway on Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at her home.  She was born in Point on May 13, 1915, to Charlie Parker McWatters and Edna Pearl Flewellen.  She married Edmond Hughey on September 15, 1932, in Emory.  She was a housewife, a mother, and was a member of Kaufman Church of Christ.  She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Joe A. and Laverne Hughey of Marshall, Charles and Deding Hughey of Garland, and Phil and Rita Hughey of Peckville, Pa.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laska and Clemente Medina of Kaufman, and Jacque and Kim McBride of Bertram; brother and sister-in-law, Charles Floyd and Eloise McWatters of Boerne; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a baby daughter in 1941; husband in 1960; father in 1959; mother in 1980; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Hughey in 1997; brothers, Bill McWatters in 1973, Bradford McWatters in 1980, and sister Jacque McWatters in 1942.

 Major Raymond Chumley
Retired U.S. Air Force Major Raymond F. Chumley, 75, was born in Greenville. He received an electrical engineering degree from East Texas State in Commerce and retired from the U.S. Air Force with 23 years of service.  His last assignment was at Offutt Air Force Base where he served with the 55th Maintenance Squadron. As an experimental design engineer, Ray also retired from Valmont Industries. He enjoyed gardening and his beloved pets.   Ray is survived by his spouse, Ann Chumley; a son, Perry Ray Chumley; daughter Sherry Kay McLaughlin and granddaughters Maleah Rae Chumley, Nicole and Amanda McLaughlin; and cousins Billie Jo and O.D. Williams and Lida Stewart, all of Greenville.  Services are at 3:30 p.m. on April 29, 2006, in the chapel of Kavanaugh United Methodist Church in Greenville with Rev. Joel Arnold officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery.  Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Zola Faye Hughey Weatherford, 90, of Kaufman, formerly of Greenville and Garland, died early in the morning on April 19, 2006, at her residence. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with James Hughey, Carol Walker, Phil Hughey, Joe Hughey and Charles McWatters officiating. Burial is at Forest Park Cemetery.  Born May 13, 1915, in Point, she was the daughter of Charlie Parker and Edna Pearl Flewellen McWatters. She was married to Edmond Hughey on Sept. 15, 1932, in Emory.   Mrs. Weatherford was a housewife and mother. She was a member of Kaufman Church of Christ.  Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Joe A. and Laverne Hughey of Marshall, Charles and Deding Hughey of Garland, and Phil and Rita Hughey of Peckville, Pa.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laska and Clemente Medina of Kaufman and Jacque and Kim McBride of Bertram; brother and sister-in-law Charles Floyd and Eloise McWatters of Boerne; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a baby daughter in 1941; her husband in 1960; her father in 1959; her mother in 1980; a daughter-in-law, Suzanne Hughey in 1997; two brothers, Bill McWatters in 1973 and Bradford McWatters in 1980; and a sister, Jacque McWatters in 1942.  Pallbearers are Kim McBride, Clemente Medina, Keith Hughey, Steve Hennessee, Don Hughey and Jim Bass.  Memorials may be made to Visiting Nurses Association, 102 West Grove, Kaufman, 75142.  Visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Lucille “Lou” Peaton, 80, of Commerce died the night of May 1, 2006, at Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel in Greenville with Rev. Johnny Hailes officiating. Burial is at Forest Park Cemetery.  The daughter of Jim and Sudie Parish Peaton, she was born May 27, 1925, in Greenville. She was a homemaker and was a Baptist.  Survivors are a niece and husband, Sue and Joe Hicks of Greenville; nephew and wife James and Joyce White of Greenville; two sisters, Opal White of Greenville and Dee Satterwhite of Tyler; and several great-nieces and nephews.  Her parents, a brother and one sister preceded her in death.  Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dorothy Louise Elrod, 93, died July 7, 2006, in Shreveport, La. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 10, at Peters Funeral Home chapel in Greenville with Rev. Bobby Renfro and Rev. Brad Perry officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.   Mrs. Elrod was born Dec. 23, 1912, in Holland, Texas, to Louise Murphy French and J. W. French. On Dec. 16, 1933, she married J. T. Elrod in Texarkana, Ark. She was a homemaker and a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church in Greenville.   Her survivors include one son, James Elrod and wife Margaret of Shreveport, La.; one daughter, Dorothy Perry and husband Paul of Greenville; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Her parents, husband, six brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

Ola Mae Humphrey, 85, of Greenville died the morning of July 24, 2006, at her residence. Funeral services are at 2:30 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Father Gary Herbst officiating. Burial follows at Forest Park Cemetery.  Born Aug. 24, 1920, in Rains County, she was the daughter of Jim and Lora Armstrong McIlroy. She was married to Finis Alexander Humphrey on June 3, 1939, in Shady Grove.  Mrs. Humphrey was a homemaker and was a member of Point United Methodist Church.  Survivors are a daughter, Linda Casstevens of Greenville; two grandchildren, Amy Daniel of Little Rock, Ark., and Jason Casstevens of Greenville; and great-grandchildren Alex Daniel, Regan Daniel, Cole Daniel, Cade Daniel, Sailor Casstevens, Margot Casstevens and Skylair Wooten.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on April 6, 2005, and a brother, James McIlroy.  Pallbearers are Alex Daniel, Buster Rivers, Jerrell Casstevens, Joe Humphrey, Tom Humphrey and Eddie Wood.

Edwin B. Averitt Jr., 82, of Greenville died the morning of Sept. 5, 2006, at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Kavanaugh United Methodist Church under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Goodwin will officiate. Burial is in Forest Park Cemetery.  The son of Edwin Butler and Mary Faye Jones Averitt, he was born May 25, 1924, in Greenville. On May 29, 1948, he married Margaret Louise Abbott in Kavanaugh United Methodist Church in Greenville.   Mr. Averitt served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a placement counselor for Texas Workforce Commission. Mr. Averitt was a member of Kavanaugh United Methodist Church, American Legion and Sons of DeMolay.  Surviving are a son, Russell Averitt of Irving; two daughters, Carol Fowler of Littleton, Colo., and Judy Klopfenstein of Dallas; and grandchildren Michael Averitt of Austin, Rachael Klopfenstein, Rebecca Klopfenstein and Jennifer Klopfenstein of Dallas and Amy Fowler and Devin Fowler of Littleton, Colo.  He was preceded in death by his wife on May 14, 2006, and by his parents.  Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.  Pallbearers are Michael Averitt, Ray Dooley, Devin Fowler, Russell Fowler, Brent Klopfenstein and Roy Martinez.

Estelle J. Miller, 89, Wills Point, formerly of White Point, Quinlan, died the morning of Sept. 20, 2006, at Crestwood Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Adam Williams officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.  Daughter of Tom and Millie Hughes Johnson, she was born Aug. 5, 1917, in Caddo Mills. On Nov. 7, 1945, she was married to Byron Miller Jr. in Dallas. Mrs. Miller worked as an executive secretary. She was a member of Lakeview Church in Tawakoni.  Surviving are a nephew and wife, Ron and Jean Parish of Scottsdale, Ariz.; grandniece Holly Parish of Flower Mound and a grandnephew, Rob Parish of Flower Mound.  She was preceded in death by her husband in January 1979; her parents; and two sisters, Laurene Perry in 1988 and Louise Parish in 1970. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Perneta Lou Curtis, 85, of Greenville died Sept. 25, 2006, at Briarcliff Nursing Home. Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Larry Jordan officiating. Burial is in Forest Park Cemetery.  Mrs. Curtis was born Feb. 26, 1921, in Greenville to Admah Christopher and Lottie Mae Goodman Eastup. She was married to James Bradford Curtis on Aug. 9, 1941, in Greenville. She was co-owner of Curtis Appliance and was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.  Surviving are her daughter, Linda Moore of Greenville; brothers Wesley Eastup of Floyd, Billy Eastup of Greenville and A.C. Eastup Jr. of Longview; sisters Lera Jenkins of McKinney, Ann Steed of Hawkins, Barbara Henderson of Floyd, Betty Schwene of Caddo Mills and Wanda Ayersman of Rowlett; a brother-in-law, Howard Curtis of Greenville; grandchildren Terri Gammill of Sulphur Springs, Brett Moore and wife Darla of Greenville, Amy Potteiger and husband Brad of Bridgeport and Mike Moore and wife Kim of Sulphur Springs; great-grandchildren Ashley Robertson, Brooke and Lindsey Gammill, Chesley McGlamary, Kasey Moore, Kaden Moore and Carston Moore, all of Sulphur Springs, Amber Moore of Greenville, Kyle Potteiger, Kayla Potteiger and Kenzi Potteiger, all of Bridgeport; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.  She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 21, 2001; her parents and two infant siblings.

Jacky Glenn Townsend, 63, of Rockwall, died the morning of Sept. 25, 2006, at Park Manor Nursing Home in DeSoto. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel in Greenville with Rev. Gary Morgan officiating. Burial is at Forest Park Cemetery in Greenville.  The son of William A. and Edith Pauline Caplinger Townsend, he was born Aug. 6, 1943, in Greenville. Mr. Townsend was a car salesman.  Surviving are daughters Gina Kizer of Dallas, Debi Adams of Rockwall, Cristy Koonce of Sanger and Tina Condit of San Antonio; two sisters, Dollene King of Lancaster and Dosky Allard of Seagoville; a brother, Doug Bolding of Commerce; grandchildren Garret Koonce and Greer Koonce of Sanger and Taylor Condit and Christopher Condit of San Antonio; several aunts and uncles including Kenneth Caplinger of Celeste; several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father; his mother, Edith Pauline Caplinger Bolding; and stepfather Douglas Bolding.  Pallbearers are Jeffrey Turner, Jack Sprinkle, Gary Dean Caplinger and Billy Edwards.  Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

 Virgie Mae “Dee” Satterwhite, 94, of Tyler died Oct. 15, 2006, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel in Greenville. Burial is in Forest Park Cemetery, Greenville.  The daughter of Jim Peaton and Sudie Parish, she was born Dec. 21, 1911, in Hopkins County. She was married to Earnest W. Stroupe who preceded her in death. On Dec. 21, 1941, she was married to Wilburn A. Satterwhite in Arkadelphia, Ark.; he died in 1988.   Mrs. Satterwhite was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Seymour.  Mrs. Satterwhite is survived by two grandsons and wives, Jimmy and Kathy of Arp and their sons, Bobby and Brandon Stroupe, and Dr. Earnest W. and Jarvie Stroupe of Arp and their sons Seth, Sam and MacKenzie Stroupe; granddaughter and husband Deborah Sue and John Slater of Tyler; great-grandchildren Misty and husband Scott Herod, Holly and Aaron Schomerus and Kyle Smith; a sister, Opal White of Greenville; sisters-in-law Lou Satterwhite and Elva Tapp of Greenville and Grace Sampson of Canyon; nephews and wives John and Kathleen Williams, James and Joyce White and Donald and Emanda Johnson; nieces and husbands Sue and Joe Hicks and Diane and Tim Harris; nieces and nephews Jimmy David Satterwhite and family, Richard and Sandy Satterwhite, Jerry Satterwhite and family, Robert Satterwhite and family, Burl Lockmiller and family, Billy Glen Tapp and wife; Bob and Bill Sampson, Larry McCorkle and family and Pam McCorkle and family.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a son, Bobby Joe Stroupe, a brother, Jimmy Peaton; and two sisters, Stella Williams and Lucille “Lou” Peaton.  Great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.  Visitation is from 10 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Fred Garcia, 79, of Greenville died the afternoon of Nov. 6, 2006, at Briarcliff Health Center. Funeral services are at 2:30 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Fred Howard and Rev. Brent Grissom officiating. Burial follows at Forest Park Cemetery.  The son of Fred and Maria Ochoa Garcia, he was born Sept. 14, 1927, in Waco. On April 9, 1995, he and his wife Mary were married in Greenville.
Mr. Garcia served in the Merchant Marines. He retired from Amoco Chemicals-Chocolate Bayou Plant. He attended First Assembly of God and the Citizens Police Academy of Greenville.  Surviving are his wife of Greenville; two sons, Fred Garcia III of Galveston and Edward Garcia of Texas City; two stepdaughters, Shelly Moore of Greenville and JoAnne Dent of Lone Oak; a sister, Mary Ann Rodriquis of LaMarque; brother Richard Garcia of LaMarque; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father in 1982; his mother in 1981; a granddaughter, Leah Dent, in 2000; and a brother, Tommy Garcia, in 1995.  Pallbearers are Jay Housewright, Mike Johnson, Jamey Dent, Billy Dent, Ivan Gustin and Christina Sifuentes.  Visitation is from 1:30 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Guendolyn Elizabeth Clack, 85, of Greenville, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006 at the Harrison House. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Martha Murchison officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.  Mrs. Clack was born in Greenville on June 1, 1921 to Luther and Oda Gray. Upon the death of her mother, she was adopted by her aunt and uncle, Charlie and Ada Tomlin. She married Marion L. Fowler on Jan. 3, 1953 in Dallas. He preceded her in death on July 29, 1985. She married Gordon H. Clack on Jan. 30, 1988 in Greenville. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2000. She was the office manager at Warren's Insurance Agency for over 40 years. She was a lifelong member of Grace Presbyterian Church.  She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Debbie Fowler of Houston; grandson, Matt Fowler of Houston; granddaughter, Shannon Fowler of Spokane, WA; four step-daughters and one step-son.  Mrs. Clack was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, 1 sister and 3 brothers.  Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 20, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Pallbearers will be Charles Adams, Smith Gilley, Jerald Hicks, Richard McManus, Mickey Pierson and Jack Ramm.  The family requests any memorials to be made to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral services for Rogene Green Moss, 91, of Dallas , will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, at Coker-Mathews Chapel.  Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.  Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m., today, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Moss died Dec. 13 at 10:30 p.m., in Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas.  She was born Nov. 10, 1915, in White Rock to Sherman P. Green and Eva Ross Green. On Jan. 25, 1938, she married Eugene Wilson Moss in Wolfe City. She was a homemaker and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She was a past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star 189, and a member of James Bible Club.  Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Charlene and Charlie Pollan, and Jan and Ray Chancelor, all of Dallas; sisters-in-law Numa Green of Plano and Pearl Green of Tyler; nephews and nieces.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene W. Moss on Nov. 6, 1993, and a son, Don Wilson Moss on Oct. 31, 1997; brothers Raymond Green, Burl Green, Austin Green, Glen Green; and sisters, Floy Williamson and Lois Stapleton.

 Harold F. Curtis Jr., 75, of Greenville, passed away on Dec. 14, 2006, at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.
Funeral services are scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, with Rev. Kevin Herbert officiating. A private family burial is at Forest Park Cemetery.  Visitation is from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.   Mr. Curtis was born on Aug. 30, 1931, in Tyler to Harold F. Curtis Sr. and Leah Long. The family moved to Greenville in 1945.   Mr. Curtis graduated from Greenville High School in 1948. He then went to N.T.A.C., a military school which is now the University of Texas at Arlington. Mr. Curtis transferred to the University of Texas at Austin where he completed a BBA degree and started law school. In the middle of his mid-year at law school, his commission was called up and he left to do his service time as a military police officer in the United States Army.  Lt. Curtis married Carol Ann Fischer on Nov. 6, 1953, in Augusta, Ga. In January of 1954, he was detached to the Navy as a security officer on Eniwetok Atoll in the Marshall Islands for the hydrogen bomb tests. When he returned to the United States, they were stationed at Ft. Riley, Kans., making their home in Manhattan, Kan.  After completing his service obligation, he returned to law school at the University of Texas in 1955, interrupted briefly by his father’s illness when he came home to run Kincy Abstract for a time.  After finishing law school in 1957, he returned to his hometown to hang out his shingle to practice law. His first office was on the second floor of the Greenville National Exchange Building.   When L.L. Bowman Jr. went on the bench, Mr. Curtis acceded to his practice and had an office on the fifth floor of Citizens National Bank Building.   Mr. Curtis purchased the building on Washington Street in the 1950s and has maintained his practice in that location ever since.   Mr. Curtis was a charter member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.   He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Leah Curtis Morris and her husband, Allen, all of Greenville; a brother, Thomas A. Curtis and his wife, Donna, of San Antonio; seven nieces and nephews; 13 great-nieces and nephews and five great-great- nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a host of friends here and throughout the state.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sara Allyson Curtis, on Nov. 16, 1966, and by his parents.  Pallbearers are Ivan Alexander Jr., George Ivan Alexander, Philip D. Alexander, J. Brad McCampbell, Charles T. Bridgman, William R. Crain Jr., Robert M. Crain, David F. Crain, Steven K. Crain and Jonathan B. Crain.  Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Fellowship Class at Ridgecrest Baptist Church and members of the Hunt County Bar Association.  Donations may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund.  Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
