Wesley Chapel Cemetery

Hunt County, Texas

Transcribed for John W. "Dub" Duncan by Debbie Evans

Wesley Chapel Cemetery is located in Hunt County approximately 5 miles southeast of Wolfe City, Texas . The cemetery is on 4 acres, purchased on August 10th 1886 , from T.  J. Onstott, out of the original Onstott survey. The purchase price was $25.00. The contract was signed by the Board of Stewards of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. The board members were; O. W. Spradling, W. M. Randle, J. J. Scott, Henry Birdsong, E. Durham, L. W. Little and Patrick Old. Recorded in volume XI, page 205, Hunt County records. Some stones are unreadable and others have missing information. Those are, Rebecca, Infant, Minnie B., Frederick D., Arthur M., and another reading, Infant. Many may be buried here with no stones to mark their grave or not recorded. There was a shooting in a saloon in Aberfoyle , Texas , and a young man (name unknown) was killed, because they thought he was cheating at playing cards and is probably buried here.
