Going west from Greenville, from 380, right after passing Bland School, make a right at 36. You will go less than a mile and make a right at 1119.- -- 1119-will wind around, you will pass over a small bridge and then the road will end, make a right there. I don't know the name of the road from there on and there are no signs.
-
As soon as-the road winds to the left, (there-will be-a brick house to the left of you), follow the road to the left and, go a few yards further, and you are there. (Hopewell Cemetery will be on the right but you won't see it from the road),-there-is a very small clearing with enough space to park a car or two, (you will be directly in front of the brick house), you will have to walk along the path if you aren't able to get your car in, it is not paved and if it has been raining, don't try, you can easily become stuck and there are-huge thorned vines,-and fallen trees and brush that will damage your car.
-
Follow the dirt path to the cemetery, it will-be right in front of you as you are walking and come to the clearing,-and may be very hard to see, watch for the fencing,-the cemetery is-behind the fence.
-
Very overgrown, but we cleared it enough to see a couple of gates, and another set of gates further down. You will need to carry a machete or some nippers-to clear growth away as you progress inside, we have done the area within both gates, but only on a very limited basis.
-
Please be careful, there are holes that animals have dug --all over the place, and it is very easy to fall into them, you cannot see them for the ground cover. And don't try to upright markers, you might find a nest of copperheads underneath. There are wild dogs, too. Please be careful!
