Harvey J. Ethridge, 1909-2001

 BRASHEAR – Funeral services for Mr. Harvey J. Ethridge, 91, of Brashear were held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Brashear Baptist Church with Revs. Charles Ethridge, Archie Stone and Bryan Hutchinson officiating.

 Burial was at the Brashear Cemetery.

 Mr. Ethridge died Friday, June 15, at Hopkins county Memorial Hospital in Sulphur Springs.

 Survivors include his wife, Opal Irene Ethridge; 6 sons, Julius Ray Ethridge, Hallsville, Rev. Charles Ethridge, Winnsboro, Carroll Ethridge, of the Shirley Community, Freeman Ethridge, Richard Dean Ethridge, both of Suplhur Springs, and Johnny Merrell Ethridge: a daughter, Judy Ann reed of the Beckham Community; 3 brothers, Earl Ethridge, Dallas, Cameron Ethridge, Farmers Branch, and Curtis Ethridge, Miller Grove; A sister, Erma Dell Monroe, Malakoff; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. 

Mr. Ethridge was born in Hunt County on Nov. 28, 1909 to Levi Washington & Laura Mills Ethridge. On April 14, 1934, he married the former Opal Irene Boykin. A resident of Brashear since 1940, he was a retired farmer and dairyman. He was a graduate of Miller Grove High School and a longtime member of the Brashear Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Elbert Ethridge, Jessie Ethridge, and J.R. Ethridge; a sister, jewel Speed; and 2 grandsons, Jeffrey Ethridge and Carolton Ethridge.

 Pallbearers were Ronald Ethridge, Roger Ethridge, Clifford Ethridge, Brian Ethridge, Keith Ethridge, Brad Ethridge, Galen Ethridge and Chad Cobb.
