Johnson Services Set For Thursday (Greenville Herald Banner, 1963)

Bloom Johnson, Sr., a resident of Campbell during most of his life, died at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday in a Greenville rest home.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Campbell Methodist Church. The Rev. Robert Ridley, the Rev. P.G. Hightower and Dr. Harrison Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Miller Grove Cemetery.

A member of the Campbell Methodist Church, Mr. Johnson was an active church worker as long as health permitted. He was well known as a vocalist.

Born June 1, 1874 in Hopkins County, he was the son of E.B.D. and Martha DeMoss Johnson. He was married to Emma Paschal in 1898 in Hopkins County and she preceded him in death in 1932.

Survivors are three sons, A.S. Johnson, Campbell, A.J. Johnson of San Angelo, Bloom Johnson, Jr., of Greenville; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. One son, Otha Johnson and one daughter, Bertha Johnson preceded him in death.

Coker-Mathews-Peters funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers are Ralph Vaughn, Wesley Pickard, Johnny Mitchell, Oscar Winneford, Howard Marshall and J.D. Stovall.
