James A. Akins (Sulphur Springs News Telegram, Wednesday, December 10, 1997)

Funeral services for James A. Akins, 81, of Fort Smith, Ark., will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, in First Presbyterian Church.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, in Miller Grove Cemetery with Men's Prayer Breakfast and Adult Bible Study Class of First Presbyterian Church serving as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Fentress Mortuary in Fort Smith, Ark.

Mr. Akins died Monday, Dec. 8, in a Fort Smith nursing home.

He was a retired maintenance engineer and a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Men's Prayer Breakfast.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Gertrude Akins; a daughter, Evelyn Akins Wilson of Fort Smith, Ark.; a sister, Mildred Wheat of Royce City; four brothers, Fred Akins of Duncanville, H.C. Akins of Miller Grove, Leroy Akins of Dallas and Freeman Akins of Harrison, Ark.; and one grandson, Douglass Wyatt Wilson of Dallas.
