Clarence R. Tipps (Sulphur Springs News Telegram, Monday, November 22, 1999)

 

Funeral services for Clarence R. "Buster" Tipps, age 70, of the Miller Grove will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at Tapp Funeral Home with the Rev. Guy Mays and the Rev. Tommy Hall officiating.

            Burial will follow in Greenview Cemetery with Johnny Ferguson, Poncho Lopez, Doug Hall, Lewis Russell, Dwayne Wren, Billy Wren, Jim Potts and Bret Darrow serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Culberson, Mac Garret, Billy Lynn and Sam Speed.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at Tapp Funeral Home.

Mr. Tipps died at 12:05 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at his residence.

            He was born in Celeste on May 11, 1929, the son of Austin Manuel and Ruth Brand Tipps.  He married Faye Wren on June 2, 1948, in Miller Grove.  She survives.

Mr. Tipps was a maintenance worker for ESCO and E-Systems in Greenville for 32 years.  He was a member of Miller Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Steve Tipps and Monty Tipps, both of Sulphur Springs; one daughter, Connie Briggs of Miller Grove; two brothers Jimmy Tipps and Jerry Tipps of Greenville; two sisters, Joy Wilemon of Brashear and Nelda Campbell of Wolfe City; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Arnold Tipps.
