HISTORY: Womble Family Cemetery was established in 2001 by Mr. and Mrs. Samuel A. Womble of La Villa, so that he could be buried on his own land. Their daughter-in-law was killed in a car wreck in 2002, and is also buried there.

Samuel and Eva Womble came to the Rio Grande Valley on their wedding night, and remained to live here. Samuel was from Round Rock; Eva was from Florence, Texas. He was a successful farmer for many years. Their three sons and daughter are: Samuel Marion, Daniel Allen, David Evan, and Suzanne Elaine Womble Richards.

The private family cemetery measures 50x100 feet, and is surrounded by hurricane fencing. It is landscaped with native plants. The family provides maintenance.
