HISTORY: Natividad Valdez and his brother Santos came from Starr County and together  established El Javelin (peccary) Ranch about 1933. Santos later sold his part. Natividad married Dolores Herrera in 1931; they had six children.  About 1939 the brothers bought part of Santa Monica  Ranch.  Natividad  established his new ranch on the north part of the property, where he farmed and raised cattle. He died in 1969 and is buried in the family cemetery established in 1969 on the ranch. His children operate El Javelin and rent the Santa Monica property for hunting.
