Mrs. Leutishia Owens

    Funeral services for Mrs. Leutishia Owens Owens, who died at 12:50 PM Sunday, September 25, 1960, at her home in the Hickory Creek community were held Monday, September 27, 1960, at 2:30 PM in the Hickory Creek Baptist Church.

    The Rev. J. R. Cox and Rev. Joe Carmen conducted the services and burial was made in the Grove Hill Cemetery north of Leonard.     Pallbearers were Sim F. Owens, Woodrow Owens, Billy D. Owens, Mead Owens, W. R. Hampton, and Joe D. Gilmer.

    Born September 19, 1882, in Boonville, Mississippi, Mrs. Owens was the daughter of Francis Owens and Joann Martin Owens.  She was married to Clarence Owens in 1900 and to this union were born three children.  A resident of the Hickory Creek community for fifteen years, Mrs. Owens had been active in the Hickory Creek Baptist Church where she was a member.

    Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Vernon Compton and a son, Reuben Owens, both of Hickory Creek, two sisters, Mrs. Callie Owens and Miss Alice Owens of Leonard; a brother, Sim Owens, Sr., of Hickory Creek and three grandchildren.

Her husband and one child preceded her in death.
