This cemetery is located west of town just past the ‘Hoffman Pace’, 1 or 2 miles. This was reading was by a former resident of Monkstown, Rodney Branson.

First burial: Oct 20 1873. Last burial: Oct 10 1939. There are 38 gravestones listed here with the earliest birth recorded as: Jul 24 1828

There is another cemetery near this one in the woods, exact location unknown. It is the Ragsdale Cemetery. Ragsdale was on the Red River north of where Monkstown was to be in the future. There was a terrible epidemic and many folks died in the Ragsdale area. The bodies were taken to the woods far enough south of Ragsdale to be safe from floods.

Wells, Infant – Son of Lee Alexander Wells & Lillie Belle Wells (Maiden name Wells). This must have been their 1^st child. They had one other son, Vin Wells, born Jul 09 1894 and died Jan 15 1975. Vin married Bernice Wells, Susan A. – Don’t know who this is. Could be Lee & Belle’s, or daughter of one of Lee’s brothers, Jeff, John or Thomas.

Hart, Mary E. – This would be Mary Etta daughter of Alford G. Hart & Mary P. Holt.

Hart, Priscilla – This was Priscilla Newhouse, wife of Harden Dee Hart, son of Alford and Mary P. Holt Hart. They had one daughter. Priscilla must have died as the result of the birth.

Favor, J.H. – Mary P. Holt Hart married J.H. Favor following the death of Alford. She is buried in Andrews Cemetery in Andrew County, Texas.
