Duncan Grave

Fannin County, Cemeteries of TX

Transcribed for John W. Duncan by Debbie Evans

Duncan Cemetery is located in Fannin County, approximately 2 miles north of Wolfe City, Texas, in a pasture, east of Highway 34 and west of the Rehobeth Cemetery.

Velia Mae Duncan, born and died 3-17-1939 , daughter of Oscar Ervin and Ollie Maud (White) Duncan   She was buried at the end of the family garden. This was a very common way of burials in those days. Most cemeteries began in this way, where the family would bury a family member, farm worker or a neighbor on their farm and set aside land for future burials. There is no marker here, so the grave location is unknown. Her two older brothers ( Troy Lee and Ervin) and a neighbor’s two sons, made a wooden box for her coffin. There are no other burials here. Note: this was the compiler’s (John W. Duncan sister.
